Color Transparency
Project 3
Part One:
Using colored pencils, create five examples of colors overlapping to indicate perceptual
transparency. Be sure to include both kinds of transparency discussed in class
(mix as darker than parents and mix as halfway between parents). Use 3 inch criss-cross format (made of 1 inch squares).
Part Two:
Create three (3x5") nonobjective color sketches that explore ASYMMETRY
and perceptual transparency using the composition themes, Rectilinear and
Curvilinear. You may do three of each theme, or combine them in an interesting
way. Consider how your color choices relate
(create harmonies or discords) and feel free to explore any of the colors
schemes mentioned in the Design Basics
book.
Part Three:
Create one 6x9" designs that illustrate a variety of color mixes.
Use of at least five parent colors and twice as many mixed colors.
Each image should be 6x9”.
“Compose a design that contains several incidents of each
kind of transparency. While you may approach composition freely, strive for
readability in color choice and shape description.” – assignment taken from, color:
a workshop approach by David Hornung
Some examples from previous classes.
Is part 3 due Monday or Wednesday?
